This scholarship is provided through the George & Leah Hollander Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of George and Leah Hollander, the parents of Debra Hollander, LNHA, MBA, a longtime member of ACHCA. Debra believes that actions such as this can provide resources that help members of ACHCA advance their careers, and to use this knowledge at their organizations to improve the quality of service they provide to their healthcare organization, and ultimately, to the people in the healthcare community who benefit from their services.

Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship fund is to sponsor four recipients to attend the Annual ACHCA Convention & Exposition.

Background: ACHCA believes that the quality of care and life in a Long Term Care Facility or Senior Housing begins with the Administrator’s quality of education. Therefore, ACHCA strongly encourages early career Administrators to apply for the George & Leah Hollander Memorial Scholarship.

Four individuals will be selected for scholarships. The recipients of this award will receive up to $2,500.00 reimbursement towards attending the Annual Convention Meeting including registration, travel, and lodging upon the submission of paid receipts.

Selection Criteria:

The recipients must show a financial need and should be awarded based upon the applicant demonstrating a true interest and desire to continue their professional development and education in the area of health services and senior living executive leadership. 
  1. The recipients must show a financial need and should be awarded based upon the applicant demonstrating a true interest and desire to continue their professional development and education in the area of health services and senior living executive leadership. 
  2. The committee shall review the applications and select four (4) recipients each year to receive scholarships from across the country.
  3. Applicants must be an AIT (Administrator In Training), New Administrator or in an Assistant management position within the first five (5) years of their careers.
  4. Membership in the ACHCA is required.
  5. The scholarship is awarded in the form of reimbursement of up to $2,500 of eligible expenses. Receipts for eligible expenses should be submitted no later than thirty (30) days of the close of Convention. Submit qualified receipts of up to $2,500 to the contact noted below.
    1. Eligible expenses include registration fee, hotel, airfare, ground transportation, mileage, gas, and meals en route to and from the meeting. Meals outside the conference meals will be reimbursed only if there is no meal provided with conference registration at that time. Meals will be reimbursed as follows: up to $20.00 for breakfast; up to $30 for lunch; up to $50 for dinner. The hotel will be reimbursed up to four (4) nights at the conference hotel.

When your first time attendance of the national event of the American College of Health Care Administrators, turns out as an honor and great experience being selected as the winner of The George and Leah Hollander Scholarship 2019. As an emerging professional member of ACHCA, the quality long term care education help to continuously improve the quality service in the healthcare organization, ultimately to the people in the healthcare community who benefit the service. Awareness of healthcare regulatory forecast, strategies and learning with fun, you come up with idea as a great way of turning into a yearly vacation, at the same time enjoying the privilege in meeting different members, great leaders in the healthcare industry who sharpens one another, like-minded people from across the country.
