GHFA has partnered with the New York Chapter of ACHCA, Atlantic, and NYSHFA/NYSCAL, Western Region Buffalo with three fantastic educational presentations LIVE in three areas of the state, all in August!

First, there will be two presentations of Post Pandemic Leadership in Long-Term Care: The Role of Strategy in Operations, one in Utica New York at the Grand at Utica on August 4, 2021, and the other at the Meadows at Brookmeade in Rhinebeck, New York on August 5, 2021 (6 CEU's).

In this session, David Wolf, Professor and Academic Coordinator at Lynn University and professional lecturer, will discuss:

  • How the pandemic has affected LTC/PAC operations from an ethical and operational perspective.
  • Describe how strategy and strategic thinking can be used to plan post-pandemic operations.
  • Analyze how the strategic Baldrige Framework can be used on a daily basis to create operational excellence with your organization.
  • Generate an operations plan based on the "Strategic Change Leadership Molecule (SCLM)".

Our second speaker of the day will be Amy Lee, President and CEO of Coretactics Healthcare Consulting, Inc. Amy will discuss:

  • New and proposed regulatory standards under the CARES Act and the enhanced enforcement actions for non-compliance.
  • Describe the process changes leaders need to make to prepare their operations for the next infection control threat.
  • Recognize the power of data management and quality assurance in ensuring your operations are on the right track.

Second, on August 17 and 18, 2021 we will be presenting the Reimbursement Roundup in Depew, New York with our featured speaker Maureen McCarthy, President, and CEO of Celtic Consulting. This two-day educational session will be one not to miss (12.5 CEU's). Over the two days, Maureen will be discussing:

  • CMS Final Rule Update: Medicare Changes for FY22
  • Provider Portal: Reporting CARES Act Funds
  • Understanding the New Medicaid CMI Calculation
  • Achieving Quintile Pool Payout: Getting Your Money’s Worth put of Quality Measures
  • Capturing Telehealth Revenue

Guest speaker Barry Halpern, Tax & Business Services partner at Marcum, LLP, will be speaking on NYS Tax Laws Impacting Revenue: Tax Credits, Remote COVID Workers, and other Tax Controversies.

Guest speaker Michael Hotz, LNHA, Certified Fellow and credentialed Health Service Executive in the American College of Health Care Administrators will be speaking at two sessions, Ethical Practices in LTC and Succession Planning and Mentorship.

Finally, guest speaker Liz Almeida-Sanborn, MS, PT, President and Founder of Preferred Therapy Solutions will be presenting two sessions, Rehab Strategies to Improve CMI and How Rehab Can Improve Your Quality Ratings.
